1) Assessing Current Flooring & Preparation Needs

Before installing your new athletic flooring, your existing floor may require preparation such as leveling. Some old floors may need removal.

Costs can range from $0 to $10 per sq. ft., depending on the condition of your current floor and the necessary steps to prepare the space.

  • Minimal Preparation ($0 per sq. ft.) – Your surface is ready for installation with little to no work required. Maybe just a good cleaning.
  • Moderate Preparation ($1–$3 per sq. ft.) – Includes minor repairs, adhesive removal, or leveling adjustments.
  • Extensive Preparation ($4–$10 per sq. ft.) – Could involve full floor removal, concrete grinding, or even hazardous material abatement (such as asbestos remediation in older facilities).

Please reference our flooring specifications or give us a call and we'd be happy to help assess your space to determine the best approach to preparing your space.

Many times, we refer you to flooring preparation/removal specialists as this can help you save costs.

Due to the infinite amount of accessories, we at Sport Court of Austin only offer a limited number of these. If we don’t offer what you’re looking for, there’s a good chance we know someone who does. Here’s a price list of the items we commonly offer:

4) Labor, Tax and Freight Costs

Labor: The cost of installation labor varies based on the size of the project, location, intricacy of perimeter trimming, complexity of the design, and accessibility for material delivery. Labor pricing typically ranges from $0.50 to $1.50 per sq. ft.

Freight Costs: Approximately $0.25 to $0.50 per sq. ft., depending on location, shipment size, and underlayment thickness.

Tax: If applicable, is calculated at a local level and is dependent the type of legal entity/ property you have. In Texas, between 0% to 8.25%.

5) Maintenance & Lifecycle Costs

One of the major benefits of Sport Court flooring is its low maintenance and lowest lifecycle costs compared to traditional athletic flooring. Here's what to expect over the lifespan of your floor:

  • Daily Light Cleaning – Simple damp-mopping or vacuuming to remove dust and debris. CourtClean towels drag works great! 1 Person, 1 Hour of work
  • Monthly or Yearly Deep Cleaning – Auto scrubbing with a manufacturer-approved cleaner to maintain surface integrity. 2 People doing 2 hours of work
  • Individual Tile Replacement – If damage occurs, modular tiles allow for easy replacement without costly resurfacing. Usually no cost, we leave you with closet stock and teach you how to do this yourself. $6 to $10 per sq foot if a larger area.
  • Rescreening Costs – Unlike wood floors, standard Sport Court tiles never require sanding or refinishing, saving thousands in long-term maintenance. The UV Cured high gloss floors would not require rescreening for 20 years or more.

By choosing Sport Court, you’re investing in a safe, durable, long-lasting flooring system that minimizes upkeep and extends the life of your facility’s surface.
